Growing up in the 1980’s as a closeted orthodox Jewish boy from the Bronx, The real Ari Gold is pushed into the limelight by his show business obsessed parents at age five at his brother’s bar-mitzvah. After one on-camera debut on the legendary Joe Franklin Show, Ari is soon told he is too ethnic and too effeminate to be on camera, relegating his talent to the background. Singing on over 400 TV jingles, on 80’s cult hit cartoon Jem and The Holograms and with icon Diana Ross, Ari grows determined to be seen–not just heard.
