About This Show

Polly Motley returns to the Danspace Project with Dancing the Numbers, a work that uses the Fibonacci series as both a timed (in terms of seconds) and spatial structure. Leonardo Fibonacci was a 12th century mathematician who discovered a simple numerical series that is the foundation for an incredible mathematical relationship behind pi; starting with 0 and 1, each new number in the series is the sum of the two before it. As numbers pile upon numbers, the dance culminates in a mesmerizing feat of concentration.
