Opening Stanza of Beau Bree Rhee: “Shadow of the Sea”

The Kitchen, New York City

At 5pm, Beau Bree Rhee's new work "Shadow of the Sea" begins with Coastal Walks simultaneously on the east and west sides of Manhattan. Visitors who are interested in experiencing this migratory portion of the performance are invited to join at either the East River Promenade and East 10th (east side) or Pier 64 (west side). Kitchen staff members wearing bright green shirts will be present at both locations to direct visitors. 

The east side walk is approximately 0.8 miles (view map here), and the west side walk is approximately 0.7 miles (view map here). Both walks will last approximately 30 minutes. Public restrooms are available near the starting point on both the east and west side: please see maps for locations. A Kitchen staff member will open each Coastal Walk with a spoken introduction. A printed transcript of this speech will be available upon request. 

Following the Coastal Walks, "Shadow of the Sea" continues in Madison Square Park on the Oval Lawn. Visitors will be asked to travel from the concluding point of the Coastal Walk to the park on their own. The entrance to the park is on the corner of 23rd Street and Broadway.
