About This Show

The Phoenix Players presents actress/playwright Joan Ackermann’s comedy Zara Spook and Other Lures. This quirky tale is about life, love and fishing! A ‘zara spook’ is a bass lure, and the women central to this play travel cross-country to New Mexico for the annual national women’s fishing championship sponsored by “Bass n’ Gal” magazine. All the characters are fishing for answers, angling for understanding. All face their worst fears, suffer loss of control only to regain it, encountering moments of grace and compassion from total strangers – all beneath a beautiful New Mexico sky.
