What’s Inside the Egg?

About the Show

What’s Inside the Egg? is a puppet-theatre piece created by Lake Simons. Eggs bear strange fruit in Simons’ animated exploration of mortality. Twelve puppets come to life when a band of “gypsy chickens” camp out under an old woman’s dinner table. These mischievous gypsies are the catalysts for the woman’s confrontation of her past and her journey into her future. The performers act as a true ensemble; shifting from traditional puppetry elements such as rod, marionette and shadow techniques to manipulating unconventional objects and 8mm projectors, to singing and playing both classical and homespun instruments.
