About This Show

What the Eunuch Saw is a modern medieval sex farce set in the royal bedchamber of a palace under siege. The eccentric Queen suffers from a bizarre love affliction: she will die if she goes an hour without sex, or so she believes. To keep her calm and defend her honor, the King and his loyal Eunuch are forced to greater and greater extremes as they try to keep the Enemy King at bay. Soon, everyone is tangled in a web of disguise and self-delusion — and when their worlds unravel, the results are both hilarious and touching. The show is described as “a fun, energetic romp with a heartfelt core under all its absurdity. It’s the child of Mel Brooks and Chekhov. Monty Python and Tennessee Williams. South Park and Euripides.”

Black Stone Theater Company presents this play by Emily Jane O’Dell as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. Isaac Robert Hurwitz directs.
