About This Show

Pilot House presents Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett. First produced in 1953, this existentialist masterpiece heralded the arrival of 20th century modernism. The play follows the agonizing daily routine of two dilapidated transients, Vladimir and Estragon, who wait endlessly (for what reasons the audience never knows) for a mysterious figure named Godot. As the days pass, they quarrel over carrots, radishes, and boots, get beaten by offstage thugs, and contemplate whether or not to hang themselves, all the while waiting for a man who may or may not ever appear. Don Jordan directs.
