Choreographer Astrid von Ussar’s provocative, energetic, and emotional style has propelled her to one of New York’s most exciting up and coming choreographers. Utilizing a wide range of styles and forms, hers is a dance with a wholly unique and dynamic movement style. Her company Von Ussar danceworks held its successful debut in 2002 at Joyce SoHo with three sold-out performances and enthusiastic critical response. For their 4th Season, Von Ussar danceworks returns once again to the familiar stage of Joyce Soho.
SCHEDULE
23 hours (World Premiere): This piece, set to the music of Graeme Ravell, is for 6 dancers portraying the nature of human relationships in the landscape of time.
Decisive Moment (2005): A piece about personal stories; it is an exploration of inner dialogue and emotions. This piece was inspired by the photography of Henri Cartier-Bresson.
The Search Goes On (2004): Originally choreographed as a solo for Nasha Thomas- Schmitt, this piece is now following three woman disconnected yet united in the end.
