About This Show

In VKTMS, Beat poet Michael McClure creates an eerie mythic underworld peopled by the victims of the Oresteia. Still in a state of shock after their butchering of Helen, her child and the rest of her household, Orestes and Elektra relive their desperate childhoods as they are transformed by the gods into war chariots. Channeling Euripides by way of Samuel Beckett, McClure, author of the Obie-winning Josephine, The Mouse Singer and the notorious The Beard, has written in VKTMS a unique tragicomic exploration of humanity’s capacity for violence.
