About This Show

The Ragtime King’s only surviving opera, Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha deserves a place among the Twentieth Century’s crowning musical achievements. It combines the great American music form of Ragtime with a folk tale set against the Reconstruction Era South. Told through the eyes of former slaves, the show celebrates the universal desire to make a better life for future generations.
