To You, The Birdie! (Phedre)

Based on Paul Schmidt’s translation of Racine’s Phèdre, The Wooster Group’s new work, To You, The Birdie! (Phedre) is a soap opera of windows and reflections, confessions and confrontations set in a mobile modernist landscape of aluminum tracks, sliding plexiglass panels, omnipresent monitors and hidden cameras. The project explores private moments thrust into the public spotlight of a gymnasium world of exhibitionism and voyeurism. The show is directed by Elizabeth LeCompte and features Group members Willem Dafoe and Kate Valk.
