About This Show

Golden Day Productions presents the world premiere of Chris Widney’s These People, a timely comedy about fraud in affluent suburbia. The play follows a successful entrepreneur named Jerry Shurl and his ambitious wife who face an uphill battle to maintain their social standing after Jerry is sentenced to two years in prison for tax evasion. To ensure that the “perfect life” that he has built for his wife and daughter will still be there when he gets back, he enlists his dear friends at the club to support him through this “hiccup.” When that fails, he resorts to “Plan B.”

The powerhouse team of actors features Bruce Sabath (New York: 2003 OOBR-winning Prince Hal), Rita Rehn (Broadway: Nine opposite Raul Julia), and James Young (Broadway: My Fair Lady with Richard Chamberlain).

Director Mary Catherine Burke has served as assistant director on Arthur Penn’s Tony Award-winning production of Fortune’s Fool. A recipient of the Drama League Fall Fellowship, she has helmed new plays at Second Stage, Theatre for a New City, HERE, and The Culture Project among others. Chris Widney’s full-length plays include Big, Fat And Ugly With A Moustache and Family Men, and he is a co-author of Keep Eye On Ball, which was published by Simon & Schuster.
