About This Show

The Ugly American is a dazzling new monologue about the strange and unpredictable experiences of a young American studying theater abroad. At the age of 19, Mike Daisey went to London expecting to be greeted by the ghosts of Gielgud and Olivier. Instead, he falls in with a postmodern, neo-feminist theater group intent on introducing him to a very different world. From serving tea to Tom Stoppard to driving drunk with an angry pimp, Daisey weaves together his misadventures with an eloquence and manic intensity that prove irresistible. Jean-Michele Gregory directs.
