New York City
Marivaux’s The Triumph of Love is a madcap and romantic comedy that will be performed in its first-ever environmental staging admidst the splendor of New York’s Central Park. Set in the early 18th Century, we follow the adventures of the stubborn philosopher Hemocrate as his misanthropic ways are trumped by the ruses of the beautiful and young Queen Leonide. This comedy of mistaken identitiy (and gender!) shows us that love really does conquer all! This is reminicent of many of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies and will be presented by New York Classical Theatre, using its signature style of staging when the actors move every 5-7 minutes, and about 50 ft to get to the next scene, starting at 97th St & CPW to 100th St & CPW.
