The Tragedy and Triumph

Urban Theatre Initiative (UTI) presents The Tragedy and Triumph, a production comprised of two plays: From the Mississippi Delta by Dr. Endesha Ida Mae Holland, and …so goes a nation by N. LaQuis Harkins. Both plays confront the issues facing young women striving to achieve their goals.

From the Mississippi Delta portrays the bittersweet journey of a young Black woman from the poverty of the Mississippi Delta to the richness of a college degree.

A poignant drama, …so goes a nation confronts the tragedy of AIDS and the Black American female population. The play delves into the pandemic situations that have led young women to become the largest growing group infected with this crippling disease.
