About This Show

William Shakespeare’s best known student, John Fletcher, picks up the story of Petruchio twelve years after The Taming of the Shrew ends. He’s found another fiery bride, Katherine’s cousin Maria, but this time Katherine’s sister Bianca and the local women are turning the tables on the men-folk! Another look at the battle of the sexes and a rare pairing of these two companion pieces.

The Tamer Tamed was written by John Fletcher, William Shakespeare’s protege and collaborator on such plays as Two Noble Kinsmen and The Life of King Henry VIII. Written twenty years and set twelve years after The Taming of the Shrew, and sharing many of the same characters as their story continues, The Tamer Tamed went unproduced for centuries until a few years ago. The Misfit Toys Repertory Company is proud to offer this rare pairing of interest to theatre-lovers, scholars, and dramaturgs alike.
