Lanford Wilson’s The Rimers of Eldritch was hailed by the critics for its introduction of a new and remarkably talented playwright in 1967 when it premiered. The story of the play is a relatively simple one: A man is murdered; the mystery is who he is, who murdered him and why. Eldritch is an old mid-west mining town that’s dying because the mine has closed. The people of Eldritch are dying too in a sense, leading to repetitious, insular lives.
