About This Show

The Red Box tells the story of Victor, a Holocaust survivor who was persecuted for being both gay and Jewish. For the first time in 2006 he sits down with an interviewer, confronts his past, and relives his complicated story. As the play travels back in time in his memory, Victor deals with falling in love for the first time, coming to terms with his sexuality, and understanding his own family’s dysfunction all while the Nazi party rises to power. He reveals the series of mistakes he made from thinking with his heart until his moment of capture. The rest of the play examines his life inside a concentration camp as a prisoner who wore both a pink triangle and yellow star.
