About This Show

Playwright David Johnston (Busted Jesus Comix, Candy & Dorothy) returns to Blue Coyote with a modern adaptation of The Oresteia.

Agamemnon returns from the Trojan War to find his wife may not have forgiven him for sacrificing their daughter. Orestes returns from exile to find Dad dead, his sister mad, and his Mother in bed with his cousin. And whatever you do, avoid the Kindly Ones.

Drawing from mythology, bloody horror films, and a black streak of gallows humor, celebrated playwright David Johnston infuses this classic Greek tragedy with astounding comic subversion.

David Johnston’s adaptation provides a few welcome laughs, but the humor occasionally undermines the dramatic heft of the material.
