About This Show

Stone Soup Theatre Arts begins its third season with Vaclav Havel’s The Memorandum , directed by Nadine Friedman. Translated from Havel’s native Czech into English, the production explores the absurdity of communication, beaurocracy, and monotony in the workplace. It is up to the play’s noble humanist managing director, Josef Gross, to navigate his staff through the insidiousness of language, the treachery of the corporate ladder, and the individual’s search for an authentic voice.

Stone Soup’s production, as has become tradition, features original musical
arrangements, drawing from pop, folk and jazz influences. These songs are
performed by two characters on the periphery of the action.
