About This Show

The award -inning company Exposed Brick Productions presents the world premiere of The Lizards, by Alan Bowne. Part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

The late Alan Bowne left us a time capsule, his last unproduced play The Lizards. A dark comedy set in a dangerous netherworld rooted in gay theme and conflict, the inhabitants needle and dart through its emotional abyss. In 1983 three hustlers lose a box containing 25 grams of heroin in a cluttered East Village Apartment crammed with stacks of newsprint detailing years of NYC history. The trio struggles for power and sanity as time races when they are forced to slither and scatter like reptiles. Damon W. Arrington directs.

“The marvel of Mr. Bowne’s work is the richly raunchy language, tuned to the gritty rhythms of the street. It’s crude yet lyrical; even at its most scatological, the dialogue sings…” — The New York Times
