About This Show

Set in the fictional small town of Baile Baiste (Gaelic for “Town of Rain”) outside of Galway, four young men regularly share hostile jokes and scathing gossip, coaxed by a steady stream of alcohol, at the local pub. When Daithi O’Neill returns to tell the buried secrets of the local Catholic Church’s past, their lives are sent into a tailspin. Winner of the National Playwriting Award at the American College Theater Festival and produced at the Kennedy Center, The Lepers of Baile Baiste is a searing dark comedy that slices deep into childhood wounds and exposes the moral corruption of one of the world’s most powerful institutions.
