New York City
Horse Trade presents a Rising Sun Performance Company production of The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, directed by Melissa Attebery.
Using a multi-aged, multi-ethnic cast and a visual design of stark silhouettes, vivid colors and timeless dress, this production of The Crucible takes place on a modern visual landscape, as it leads the audience to the always busy intersection of sin, paranoia, and intolerance. As the townsfolk engage with their hysterical surroundings, feelings of genuine religious piety collide with personal grudges, property feuds and forbidden sexual behavior. These tensions, pervade the town’s religious sensibility and provide the raw materials for the tumult of the Salem witch trials.
