About the Show

The Blunt Theater Company presents Euripides’ Greek tragedy as part of their Garden Theater Festival. Artistic Director Sheila Morgan uses the timeless play to dramatize the evolution of religious worship, from its ancient pagan rituals to its current Christian prayers. Her provocative script, underscored with the pulsating tribal sounds of percussionists, tells of the battle between Dionysus and his conservative arch-nemisis Pentheus. The play is an organic, improvisational collaboration by both actor and musician, creating an evening of heart pounding, foot stomping, and thought provoking entertainment.
There is no performance on Friday, August 18, 2000.
