About This Show

Written and performed by Keir Cutler, Teaching Detroit is a sequel to the artist’s Teaching Shakespeare: A Parody, which won a 2000 FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award in the solo performance category. The incompetent professor has been denied tenure and forced off the faculty, losing his post lecturing on Shakespeare. He has been reduced to teaching a survey course at a community college in world fiction to high school dropouts. “Detroit” is the title of his failed, unpublished novel which he is making required study. The show plays in the Downtown Variety Lounge at The Present Company Theatorium.
