About This Show

Strange Change is the name, and the theme, of an evening of five new short plays presented by En Avant Playwrights, in association with the Hunter College Graduate Theater Club:

Maz Troppe’s A Lotta Vacation, takes place in a restored hotel in
California’s Mother Lode. Sylvia and Rona confront Sylvia’s obsession with Gold Rush star Lotta Crabtree and what it means to their relationship. Cristina Duarte directs Diana Hawthorne and Stephanie Deliani.

In Tom Dillehay’s Blue Glass, a boy in a kilt meets a shirtless stranger
who is different from anyone he’s known in his stifling small town. Peter Bloch directs a cast of Hunter Gilmore and Erik Singer.

In David Marrero’s Incident Near Chaco Diner, what does the Deputy know about the explosions outside in the raging storm, and what isn’t he telling the worried patrons? Don Jordan directs Campbell Bridges, Michael C. Freeland, Kathleen Naomi, Ethan Perry and Kathryn Weber.

In Kathleen Warnock’s A Bushel of Crabs, Rich and Helen meet, 10 years after their relationship ended. Is it for closure? To pick up where they left off? Or something else? Peter Bloch directs Tracy Baker, Meghan Cary and Eric J. Hellberg.

Ed Valentine’s Women With Wings is set in the pastel-colored but
oppressive 1950’s. While housewives compete to sell the most Powder and Paint, they secretly long to fly away from it all. Jennifer O’Donnell directs Annette Guarrasi, Melissa Hambly, Theodora P. Loukas, Bobby Lynn Rice and Susan Romanoff.
