Steinese Takeout

About the Show

Although she once had a smash hit on Broadway (“Four Saints in Three Acts”), Gertrude Stein is known today primarily for coining the phrase “rose is a rose is a rose.” This evening of one-acts re-establishes the avant garde godmother as a visionary dramatist of the first rank, a daring playwright whose experiments foreshadow and outstrip her successors Richard Foreman, Robert Wilson, and the Wooster Group.
