soloNOVA Arts Festival

terraNOVA Collective presents its 4th annual soloNOVA Arts Festival.

The festival will present 14 artists whose work encompasses diverse disciplines, including spoken word, solo plays, dance, multimedia, burlesque and music.

The festival begins Wednesday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. with a gala evening that features a special presentation by award winning musician and former National Slam Poetry champion, Wammo, of the Asylum Street Spankers, a reception, and other searing performances by special guests. Opening night festivities as well as all festival productions will take place at Performance Space 122, 150 First Avenue.

This year, terraNOVA Collective presents 32 solo artists playing at 2 venues in the East Village. This year’s main stage productions are at Performance Space 122, and 2007 marks the first time soloNOVA is having a late night series, which will play at Mo Pitkin’s.

The 2007 festival presents internationally renowned artists as well as exciting new voices in world, American and New York and World premiers. They include acclaimed performance poet and slam champion Carlos Andrés Gomez (Spike Lee’s The Inside Man, HBO’s Def Poetry Jam), avant garde monologist Samantha Lally (Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, Dora Mae Productions), a solo musical by Monica West (Adam Rapp’s Red Light Winter) contemporary dance artists Larissa Velez, Heather Olson and Jeanine Durning (Barrymore Award [Phildelphia], Dance Theater Workshop, PS122), clown performer Anne Goldmann (NY Clown Theater Festival), master storyteller CJ Critt, comedian character actor Amanda Duarte (2002 S.F. Bay Guardian Goldie Award), award winning actor Madi Distefano ("Best New Play", "Best Actress" – Barrymore Award nominations), virtuoso composer, Milica Paranosic (The New Juilliard Ensemble, The Juilliard Dance Department, VisionIntoArt), blazing burlesque performer, Victoria Libertore (BAX, Dixon Place, Joe’s Pub, Joyce SoHo), GUTWorks (Here Arts Center) presentation of Kali Quinn and a play by Jessica Cerullo (Naropa University with the Tectonic Theatre Project).
