Royal Madness

With their new fantasy, Royal Madness, choreographers Yasuko Tokoshi and Gonnie Heggen probe into human affairs in high society, examining who’s who in the corridors of power. Inspired by the royal and imperial courts of France and Japan, this improvisational duet uses dance, text, and video to depict ornate gestures, rigid protocols, and the unavoidable desires that lie beneath the formal masks of court life.
