About This Show

During a trip to Israel, Amanda, a young American activist, realizes that, in contrast to her Palestinian friend Najwa, she is utterly devoid of home and history, being an adoptee who doesn’t even know what race she is. Her feeling of dissonance is compounded after Najwa’s brother is killed and she is visited by a strange disorder, in which she gets up in the middle of the night and acts out a recurring apocalyptic nightmare. While struggling with this malady, Amanda is suddenly picked up at a checkpoint and deported to America, where she embarks on a mission to find her birth parents, claim her history, and understand her disturbing dream. Rite of Return is written and directed by Victoria Linchon.

Appropriate for audiences 10 and up.
