When Bob Kingdom devised Return Journey fifteen years ago, the piece poured out from his soul in an unabashed and unconditional tribute to Dylan Thomas, a fellow Welsh countryman whose breathtakingly brilliant work he had admired since the day he learned to listen to the poetry being read to him and the stories being told to him as a small child. When Mr. Kingdom advanced in years he studied the famous poet’s cannon of work. As his national prominence as an actor grew in Great Britain, he began to devise a one-man show as a tribute to Mr. Thomas with the intent of following in the acclaimed footsteps of the poet. Footsteps that would lead to stages all over the world. This is that show.
