About This Show

Obie-winning writer and notorious poster girl for free expression, Holly Hughes, returns to PS 122 to present the New York premiere of her latest solo work, Preaching to the Perverted. In this production, Hughes comically chronicles her recent appearance before the U.S. Supreme Court as part of one of America’s most infamous freedom of expression cases. In 1990, she became the unwilling symbol for the NEA when she along with thre others, sued them for withdrawing grants on the grounds of indecency. Using her lyrical language, Hughes takes on decency, family values, lesbian chic, national media, the U.S. arts scene and child pornography.
