Porgy and Bess

Queensborough Community College presents one of George Gershwin’s most powerful musicals. Porgy and Bess traces the lives of underpriviliged African-Americans living on Catfish Row in Charleston, South Carolina. It is a moving portrait of human struggles and emotions, featuring such memorable songs as “It Ain’t Necessarily So,” “Summertime,” “I Got Plenty o’ Nothin’,” and “Bess You Is My Woman Now.”
