Pure Pop 2000 at NADA Show World continues its festival of Chekhov’s Vaudevilles with, THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TRIAL. The play is actually a world premiere written by noted Chekhov translator Carol Rocamora, who went back to the original short story and finished the piece. The production is the story of a traveler who gets caught in a train station during a blizzard and remembers another time when he met a beautiful woman under similar circumstances. As he reminisces, the woman appears and then finally her husband. In the end, our traveler, wakes from this “dream” to face his own future, which involves a trial in which he might have to take drastic measures in order to preserve his convictions.
