About This Show

Chosen by the prestigious Eugene O’Neill Playwright’s Conference in 2002, MAE is a multi-media solo performance that weaves threads of mystery into the complex life of MAE. In this latest installment of Letitia Guillory’s acclaimed performance collage, “The Further Adventures of Gussie Mae in America,” MAE relives the bitter and the sweet. Beginning with a beautiful family Sunday that ends in a tragic loss of innocence, MAE finds comfort in a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Confessions pour out of her as she connects the dots that frame the mystery of her existence. As the media flood the space with evidence, MAE waits for judgment, prays for mercy and hopes for salvation. Her pilgrimage to hell and back allows the audience to witness the uplifting of a soul.

This show is recommended for mature audiences only.
