Charming lyrics and non-stop comedy will transport you from New York City to East Grinstead, a dreary London suburb where Harry Witherspoon unsuccessfully tries to sell shoes day in and day out. Miserable and alone, he comes across an unexpected opportunity to make a fortune in Monte Carlo! Harry’s recently deceased Uncle Anthony has left him six million dollars in his will. Not only that, but Uncle Anthony has a trip to Monte Carlo all planned in advance for Harry! But there’s a catch! Before he can collect the money, Harry must take the taxedermied body of his dead Uncle Anthony along for the ride, so Uncle can ‘experience’ Monte Carlo, too, the way he never had the chance to when he was alive. Although this is Harry’s opportunity for a brand new life, he isn’t the only one who knows about the money. There’s Rita La Porta, who was having an affair with the deceased and wants her share of the loot at any cost! There’s Annabel Glick, who works for the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn, the late Anthony’s favorite charity. She travels to Monte Carlo to watch Harry’s every move – if one of Uncle’s specifications is not met in accordance to the will, the money switches hands to her and her dogs. Throw in a nosy Italian, a sexy showgirl who’s hungry for a rich man, Rita’s nervous, inhaler-carrying brother, a bitter landlady, and a slew of other suspicious characters, and you’re off on Harry’s adventure, cheering him on as disaster after disaster takes him on this hilarious roller-coaster ride of a musical. And although no one signed up for a love story, Lucky Stiff has a happy ending. You’ll leave humming and chuckling to yourself.
