Loose Knit
$16.50 on line; $18.00 at the door; $25.00 Benefit Performance (Jan 20 only)
Fool’s Pearls Productions presents Loose Knit, by Theresa Rebeck, directed by Kevin Molesworth.
Sex in the City but with Knitting…and Sushi! War of the sexes, unemployment, loneliness, adultery and dysfunctional families are only a few of the themes in this craftily rigged comedy about five thirtysomething New York City women who come together to knit as their lives unravel.
Directed by Brass Tacks Theater Company’s Founding Artistic Director, Kevin Molesworth, Loose Knit paints a bleak, but humorous, picture of a group of diverse women who meet once a week to knit and talk of men and jobs or lack of them. Casting on, dropping stitches, learning new ones, increasing and decreasing, ending up with something wondrous or unrecognizable — Loose Knit is rich with symbolism as Theresa Rebeck’s women attempt to deal with social pressures, endless striving, and the eternal dichotomy of professional hierarchy and domestic matriarchy.
