About the Show

Following up last season’s riveting The Master Builder, Fresh Look Theatre returns to CRS with another new translation/adaptation of Ibsen by Fresh Look Artistic Director David Greenwood, the comparatively little known Little Eyolf. This time the themes are quasi-incestuous feelings, cross-gender play, possessiveness, and self-delusion. Little Eyolf is being presented at CRS as an Equity Approved Showcase. Tickets are free to Equity members and qualified industry representatives.

“Fresh Look Theatre Company produced an intelligent, captivating revival [of The Master Builder] with an invigorating cast… David Greenwood’s… direction brought out passionate, poignant performances from his actors. This was a brilliant production…” — Seth Bisen-Hersh, oobr.com

Little Eyolf is a biting portrait of a marriage poisoned by doubt and self-delusion that illuminates Ibsen’s reputation as a precursor to Freud — not to mention Shepard and Albee — and illustrates why his characters continue to resonate with today’s audience. A tragic accident within the Allmers’ family ignites an explosion of unexpressed resentment and desire that exposes the weak foundations of the Allmers’ marriage. Into this emotional wasteland marches the Rat-Wife, an enigmatic pied piper beckoning them toward salvation — or annihilation.
