About the Show

The Blunt Theater Company presents Life Is A Dream by Calderon de La Barca. The play is about the King of Poland who has it foretold that his son would be a horrible ruler to his country. So when the child is born, the king has him locked in a prison in the middle of the forest, where he is raised like an animal. Then, the King after 20 years, has a change of heart and wants to test the fortune. He has his son drugged and brought to the castle where they explain what happened to him. The son gets very upset and proves to be the horrible ruler they feared – because he was raised like an animal and was understandably angry at his father ruining his life. So the King drugs his son again and puts him back in the forest and when he wakes up he thinks it was all a dream and regrets the way he behaved.
