About This Show

Set in 1947, Jitterbugging: Scenes of Sex in a New Society is a cycle of brief sexual encounters at a seaside New England hotel. Beginning with the seduction of a soldier by a whore and ending with the seduction of that whore by the mayor, the play contrasts the sadness of eight manipulative liasons with the surface optimism of period songs. Tony Award winning playwright Richard Nelson wrote this play. Paul Urcioli directs.
