About This Show

It’s the opening night party for The Golden Egg on Broadway and waiting for the reviews are the excitable young author, the brilliant but unstable director, the pill-popping leading lady, and the playwright’s best friend, an egotistical stage actor who has “gone Hollywood” to star in a mediocre television series. Joining them are a toady drama critic, a would-be chorus boy, and a hard-boiled taxi driver. As reviews pour in and euphoria slides into despair, the narcissism, ambition, childishness, and plain irrationality which infuses the theater takes over. John Capo Productions presents this revival of Terrence McNally’s It’s Only a Play as part of the Midtown International Theatre Festival.
