About This Show

The story of Iphigenia in Tauris wraps up the cycle of the House of Atreus. Instead of Iphigenia being sacrificed to ensure the sailing of the Greek fleet to Troy, Euripides’ play reveals that Iphigenia was not sacrificed but rather rescued at the last minute by Artemis. Deposited on the faraway shore of Tauris on the Black Sea, she has had to act as priestess to Artemis, sacrificing foreigners whose misfortune it is to enter this land. Fifteen years later her brother Orestes is one such foreigner. Mistaken identites abound, hilarity ensues and the family suffering ends…sort of.

There is an additional performance on Saturday, November 23 @ 4:00pm.
