About This Show

From Auction Block to Hip Hop is a meditation on Modern Day Minstrelsy that asks how far will one Hip Hop mogul go selling stereotypes of Black, Latina, and Asian women of color in his chase for the almighty dollar.
From Auction Block to Hip Hop is the second play by David Lamb, the author of the off Broadway hit Platanos and Collard Greens. Like Platanos, Auction Block fuses the poetry of Hip Hop with the intellect of W.E.B. DuBois to produce a biting satire filled with laugh out loud humor and subtle pain. If you’ve ever wondered where music is heading and how it got there, run to see From Auction Block To Hip Hop.
