New York City
In Force Part Two: Threshold, Jack Tierney, a former field correspondent in Eastern Europe during the Balkan Conflicts of the nineties, reported passionately about those wars until his best friend, Paul, was killed on assignment. Tired and cynical, Jack returned home to New York, wrote a bestseller and married a young artist named Anne. But settled into life in NYC, Jack can’t shake the urge to entangle himself in the injustices of the world.
When his marriage hits the rocks, and war begins to percolate around the globe, Jack decides to leave his creature comforts behind and return to journalism. He returns to Zagreb on a quest to excavate the truth about Paul’s murder; but like all great journeys, Jack’s leads him to a place he never could have foreseen. While looking for information about Paul, he learns of an underground network of Muslims who are fiercely protecting a young Christian woman in Croatia still recovering from the scars of religious warfare. The woman, by all accounts, is special.
