FLOOD! weaves together flood mythology from Africa, Latin America, Greece and the Polynesian Islands to create a play that families can enjoy together. Narrated by Mother Earth, FLOOD! follows the haphazard journey of Professor Nay, the world’s foremost authority on skepticism, through a series of stories about floods. Although brilliant, Professor Nay is unable to see the value of storytelling. But ultimately, the ensemble draws him into the tales using live music, puppetry, mask and dance. As Professor Nay is exposed to and ultimately performs in the myths, he understands the power of storytelling – using our imagination to reveal our shared humanity. Each performance will end with a new flood myth created through improvisation by the actors using suggestions from the audience.
