This vibrant drama tells the story of Troy Maxson, a former star of the Negro baseball leagues, who is now working as a garbage collector in 1957 Pittsburgh. He was excluded from the major leagues in his prime, and his bitterness takes a toll on all of his relationships. This is the story of a man and his family struggling to surmount the pressures of being poor and black; and despite that circumstance, to fight for dignity and maintain a dream.
