About This Show

Poet-classicist Anne Carson’s new translation of Sophocles’ Electra fuses classical topics with a modern style by exposing the cyclical nature of violence and unearthing the tension between peace and honor. As King Agamemnon’s daughter Electra laments over her father’s death, she embarks on a quest for revenge against her mother, Queen Clytemnestra, and Clytemnestra’s lover Aegisthus. Kathryn Walker directs this staged reading.
