About This Show

BroadwayUSA! presents Ducks and Lovers, featuring a book by Peter Gootkind and Marni Goltsman, music by Peter Gootkind, and lyrics by Peter Gootkind. Based on the play Ducks and Lovers by Murray Schisgal.

When Robert Latore lands a job at Hathaway Advertising, his corporate American dream is finally realized. But when the young executive’s traditional gypsy grandmother pronounces him king of the gypsies, his office rivals steal his pitch for Peter Potter Peanut Butter, and his overbearing mother insists that Robert embrace his newly reincarnated father, life gets a little complicated. As Robert’s worlds careen toward a riotous collision, you can’t help but fall in love with this fast-paced, tuneful, and witty new musical.

This wacky, quacky musical was developed through the BMI and ASCAP workshops and the Dramatists Guild theatre development program. It has received staged readings at a number of prestigious festivals including NAMT’s 2002 Annual Festival of New Musicals. Praised by theatre luminaries like Lee Adams, Sheldon Harnick, Stephen Schwartz, Peter Stone, Maury Yeston and David Zippel, this slick, traditional musical comedy will appeal to audiences of all ages and prompted TheaterMania’s Peter Filichia to conclude: “Here’s what I’d like to see optioned: Ducks and Lovers”. Get in on the act before this hits the big time!
