About This Show

The Barefoot Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the stage version of Dog Day Afternoon, adapted and directed by Frank Solorzano.

Based on a true story of an actual 1972 New York bank robbery gone awry, Dog Day Afternoon captures the bizarre 12 hours of the event in dramatic and riveting fashion. When a man and his crew storm a bank in an attempt to steal the money needed to pay for his lover’s operation his incompetence draws the attention of the authorities, then the media and then the public, creating a media circus that followed the robbers and their 8 hostages until his eventual capture. This pressure-cooker of a play brings that infamous day back to vivid life showing how the events changed the lives of many.
