About This Show

The Frank Silvera Writers’ Workshop, Inc. presents Destiny Manifested, a hip-hop drama. A “BEST AUDIENCE AWARD” winner at the 2003 Downtown Urban Theater Festival, the show is written by James Gillard and directed by David Sheppard.

After a 2-year hiatus, MC MANIFEST is back. His highly
anticipated album “Destiny Manifested” drops in just one week, and the streets await. Manifest says he’s a changed man. Gone are the days of the gangster lyrics and opulent lifestyle. In its place are scriptures and verse, but not everyone believes he is sincere. His chief adversary
Darlene Jenkins, of “BLACK WORLD NEWSPAPER” prepares to expose the truth. During an “anything goes interview” stories come to life, morality is questioned and the truth will set them free.

This riveting new play production looks at Hip- Hop music, post 9/11 tragedy and analyzes the question: “Are Rappers socially responsible for the images they create?”
